The April 4-5 National Postage Stamp & Coin Show hosted by Trajan Media, publisher of Canadian Coin News and Canadian Stamp News, is cancelled due to concerns about the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Show organizers noted the importance of limiting the spread of COVID-19 while also protecting the health and safety of show-goers, dealers, employees and their families.
“As you are aware, we serve a demographic group that is very vulnerable to COVID-19,” said Mike Walsh, publisher of CSN and CCN and managing partner of Trajan Media. “In speaking with a doctor who is also a collector, our event is also considered a high-risk activity for the virus because of the amount of product touching that occurs.”
The Public Health Agency of Canada and provincial and local health authorities were urging the cancellation of gatherings of more than 250 people at the time of Trajan’s announcement on March 16; however, just a few hours later, health officials across the country, including in British Columbia, began limiting all gatherings to fewer than 50 people.
“This is not forever, but it is important for now and for the foreseeable future – for the next few weeks,” said British Columbia provincial health officer Bonnie Henry.
The planned Premier Auction by Kitchener, Ont.’s Colonial Acres will continue as scheduled; however, it will be held online only.
Lot viewing will be held at Colonial Acres at 991 Victoria St. N., in Kitchener. Viewing is available Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

NTSC EXHIBITION MOVING TO FALL
Each spring, the National Show features the annual exhibition of the North Toronto Stamp Club (NTSC).
In addition to cancelling all of its meetings and bourses, the club is also rescheduling its 77th Annual NTSC Exhibition for Trajan’s Fall National Show on Sept. 12-13.

“Please take care of yourselves and your families, and let us all do whatever we can within our own limits to break the chains of transmission,” said Walsh.
