Peel Regional Crime Stoppers and its team of volunteers will be on hand this weekend at the National Postage Stamp & Coin Show, bringing their community safety message directly to attendees.
The show runs Saturday and Sunday at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale.
Crime Stoppers volunteers will be available to speak with visitors, share information, and answer questions about how the program works and how the public can play a role in keeping their community safe. Their presence at the show highlights the value of outreach, giving collectors and families a chance to engage with the program beyond its traditional channels.
In June, Peel Crime Stoppers released a special episode of its TIPS podcast focused on counterfeit coins – a growing issue that concerns both hobbyists and law enforcement. The podcast featured expert Mike Marshall, a long-time contributor to Canadian Coin News and a well-known authority on counterfeits. Marshall explained how counterfeit coins can be identified and discussed what more can be done to combat the problem.
The episode can be streamed directly at peelcrimestoppers.ca/podcasts or through the Peel Crime Stoppers Instagram page.
Canadian Coin News, one of the weekend show’s sponsors, has worked with Marshall for years in educating the collecting community about counterfeit threats. The podcast collaboration underscores the connection between hobby organizations, the media, and community safety programs like Crime Stoppers.
By joining the show, Peel Regional Crime Stoppers is continuing its mission of building awareness and strengthening ties with the public – proving that crime prevention and community engagement go hand in hand.
